The story of Eastern Livestock Co., LLC starts back in the 1950's when a grandfather and grandson both named Thomas Gibson began buying and selling cattle together.  They would travel from farm to farm and auction to auction purchasing cattle by the head and selling them by the pound.  This served as 10-year-old Thomas P. Gibson’s classroom for the next several years.  In 1956, due to illness, grandfather Tom sent his fifteen-year-old grandson on his first solo-buying trip.  From then on young Thomas P. Gibson began to make history.

    It was during this time that Thomas's brother John S. Gibson attended college and then entered the business.  Through the next twenty years they continued to learn their trade and expand their business.  By 1982, they recognized that their satisfied customer base had expanded considerably and that they were doing business in virtually every cattle-producing state in the country.

    In 1982 Thomas P. Gibson and John S. Gibson formalized their business and became Eastern Livestock Co., located in Louisville, Kentucky.  Through many years of hard work and an endless devotion to customer satisfaction, the Gibson family has grown the company into one of the largest cattle brokerage companies in the United States.

    Today, Eastern Livestock Co., LLC is headquartered in New Albany, Indiana and has branch facilities in eleven states.  Our satisfied customer base is still expanding and we continue to do business in every cattle-producing state in the country.  Through our network of cattle representatives we have access on a daily basis to large quantities of all types of feeder and replacement cattle, allowing us to remain extremely competitive in meeting the very specific needs of any operation, however big or small.

    At Eastern Livestock Co., LLC we recognize that the cattle industry is always changing, and so are the needs of our customers.  We are proactive in identifying these changes and staying current in the latest technologies and innovations.  As an added benefit to our customers we voluntarily participate in national identification, source verification, and vaccination programs for a large number of the cattle that we handle.
